Navajo Loop Trail

Although a short trail, the Navajo Loop passes through a sampling of some of the best of the Bryce Amphitheater. There’s a towering hoodoo (Thor’s Hammer), natural bridges, and a passageway (Wall Street) with walls so sheer and tall that in places only a small sliver of the sky can be seen above them.
Just below Sunset Point, the trail splits into two legs of the loop. The left-hand leg travels past Thor’s Hammer and Two Bridges. The right-handed leg of the trail quickly (via a series of switchbacks) to the  bottom of the cliffs of Wall Street, before meeting the other leg of the loop. You can make the complete loop in either direction or can take the connecting trail at the bottom of the loop to the Queen’s Garden Trail and return to the rim by that route.  The connecting trail to the Peekaboo Loop also departs near the bottom of the Navajo Loop Trail, and the ambitious hiker can use that trail to return to the rim at Bryce Point.
At the lower end of Wall Street is a sight which attracts nearly everyone’s attention.  Two towering Douglas-fir trees (now more than 400 years old) live in this narrow chasm and continue to grow skyward towards the narrow band of sunlight between the cliffs.

* Distance: 1.3 mi / 2.2 km
* Estimated Time: 1-2 hours
* Elevation Change: 550 ft / 168 m
* Difficulty: Fairly strenuous

Queen’s Garden Navajo Loop Combination

By combining these two popular trails, you can see most of the best of both and face the steep climb out of the canyon only once. The hike is easier if the descent is via the Navajo Loop Trail from Sunset Point. The combined loop is completed by an easy one-half mile (0.8 kilometer) walk back to the starting point along the Rim Trail between Sunrise and Sunset Points.

Distance: 2.9 mi / 4.6 km
Estimated Time: 2-3 hours
Elevation Change: 600 ft / 183 m
Difficulty: Fairly Strenuous – Moderate

Peekaboo Loop

The Peekaboo Loop Trail runs below the rim through the southerly portion of the Bryce Amphitheater. Though the Peekaboo Loop itself is only 3.5 miles (5.6 kilometers) long, it can be reached only by taking another trail from Bryce Point or Navajo Loop or Queen’s Garden trails from Sunset Point and Sunrise Point may be taken from the rim.
This trail is quite strenuous, with several fairly steep climbs and descents, but the view makes the trip well worth the effort. Among the formations seen along the route are the Cathedral, the Wall of Windows, and the Silent City.
This trail is used for horse trips; when horses are encountered, stand quietly by the side of the trail until they pass.
There are pit toilets, and a picnic area on the Peekaboo Loop Trail west of its intersection with the trail to Bryce Point.
